| CHAPTER 2: Man-to-Man plays from a BOX set
Below is a list of all of the
plays in CHAPTER 2. I've already defined my opinion of the 'Best' of
the Best for you to review first since there are so many effective sets included in
the complete set. You will find a short description of each play below with a link taking
you to an example of a play looking much like the quality of what you will receive with
your order. Remember, just about every set play has multiple
options, which makes them so difficult to defend. These plays were designed to make
opponents pay for playing good defense. I can't emphasize the importance of good sharp
execution including everything from timing, floor spacing, good solid picks, mis-directing
and v-cutting off of those picks, crisp passes, to receiving the passing ready to pull the
trigger for the uncontested shot. Review the descriptions below and look at the link Now or Shandu to see a sample play. |

4-Bonk |
Play is designed to get your shooting guard (2) or a swing man (3) an
easy look off of a double pick along the baseline after ball reversal.
Secondary options are an elbow jumper for your small forward or a trey at the top of the
key for either your shooting guard (2) or your swing man (3). You make the defense
extend from sideline to sideline, get some motion into your offense and set six different
picks throughout all of the options. |
| Double-Down |
DOUBLE-DOWN is a great multiple options set that requires good
patience and excellent timing. Many of the options that are that are incorporated
into 4-Bonk evolve into the ball reversal options in 4-Bonk. |
| Single-Single |
SINGLE-SINGLE is a great quick hitter. Excellent floor spacing and good
solid picks will find your post player and easy entry for a slashing lay-up or power
move. Like so many other, if the primary option isn't there for an easy entry pass
and score, the weak side of the court has picks and wide open players flashing to the ball
for jump shot opportunities. |
| Peak |
PEAK is a great play for both your small forward (4) and center (5).
They often seem to be getting bodies on defenders setting picks to get scorers open and
rolling to the glass for primary rebounding position. This play actually has a
couple post down opportunities and a split pick and easy entry after a ball
reversal. This is an excellent play and always works because of the split pick. |
| Blast |
BLAST
is a quick hitter with many options to follow. We create a great floor with perfect
spacing for our point guard to lull his defender asleep and then pick up a pick after the
picker is picked for initially. Sounds a little confusing, but if you have a point
guard with any kind of strength and quickness, BLAST will get you either a penetrating
score or a great dump off from your point guard to one of two cutters coming off of picks,
perfectly timed from the weak side of the court. |
| PPJ |
PPJ
(PASS-PASS-JAM) Perfectly timed and another quick hitter for a JAM or a lay-up.
VERY VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP. One simple read to make for your passer.
If there appears to be a switch then a post down is sure to be there if the
lob isn't. |
| Single |
SINGLE is another well designed play that just simply catches teams off
guard. It is an extremely difficult play to defend. We've had athletic point
guards in the past and no team has any expectation of throwing a lob to their point
guard. Usually, the point guard is tossing it up for one of the bigger men to
dunk. We've always done things in reverse to some extent, but this lob is very well
design and tremendously effective. Our point guard always gets a catch in the air
and lay-up almost every time we run it. |
| Triple-Triple |
TRIPLE-TRIPLE
is a great play because it is set up by a players coming to the ball in one pass away
asking for the ball (decoys) which ends up overloading the court and asking the
defense to deny one-pass-away before a back pick comes out of nowhere and we lob over
another front for an easy lay-up. We've always had tremendous success with the
set because of our patience and precision execution. Make certain everyone
understands what your looking for in this well designed play. Make sure you
put this one in your arsenal sooner than later. |
